ZONTA
was organized in November 1919 in Buffalo, New York. Our founder was Marion
DeForest, a journalist and playwright. At a time when few women held leadership
positions she conceived the idea of a strong network of women. By March of 1919,
five women organized to achieve this mission and chartered the first Zonta club
in Buffalo, New York.
Zonta History
ZONTA Club of Myrtle Beach was chartered on February 1, 1993 to serve Myrtle Beach and the surrounding areas. We work closely with non profit agencies to help improve the status of women and girls in South Carolina. Our projects have included transportation for CASA, baskets for young mothers choosing to continue their education with the help of Horry County Outreach, helped found ECCAHT to end human trafficking in the Carolinas, sweat suits for rape victims, and local scholarships for young women.
Zontians work, play and laugh together. We serve, respect help, commit to praise and enjoy the success of women in your community.
